B Open
Please be quiet, this is a live radio show!
B Open is a live radio show—the stage becomes the broadcasting apparatus. If you have one, bring your radio-capable mobile phone, pocket receiver, and headphones, or borrow a device from us. Please remain quiet—six radiovisionistsexplore the simultaneity of radio and theater. They practice epic journalism as a technique to overcome distance and report on the world.
Among other things, they have discovered that Lake Vostok has been buried under a three-kilometer-thick layer of ice for over 10 million years—a vast and alien unknown. Now, a hole has been drilled, and the investigation begins. How can they approach the hidden chaos without disturbing it? How can those sitting at the borehole transmit information without distorting it? Can one remain open to new insights from the depths, even when they are too complex to fully grasp—yet all the more compelling because of it?
The radio studio forms a capsule of boundless curiosity, while the ether becomes a gathering place for focused attention. The radiovisionists turn their voices into a stage for subjective expression, making personal perspective the key to openness and connection.
For those who can't make it to the theater, the detonation of the 3m³ gelatin block can also be followed live on the radio at home.
